Well we kicked off a great first responder class tonight! Our lead instructor got the always interesting first lecture in and we followed it up with a few skills. Before the 2011 class took their first quiz, we set up a scenario to see how well they could identify hazards on a scene. Our captain and the skills instructor set a truck next to a propane tank complete with lines down, a ladder thru the back window, hazardous materials spilt in the bed of the truck, and dangerous equipment laid on the ground around the truck. I was pleased with how quickly the class identified all the hazards and "alerted" the appropriate "Agencies." If you want to join this years class it's not to late. They will meet again on Wed. June 29th at 6pm at station 2 on River Road. Also remember if your interested in joining the FD we have training on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 6:30pm in station 2 on the corner of River Road and Brick School Road. Be sure to check our facebook page out if you get a chance! Until the next post, Be safe and keep on keeping on.
